An overview of Breast lifts in Connecticut

The Connecticut Breast Lift (Mastopexy) removes excess stretched skin, reshapes the breasts and lifts the nipples to a higher position. There are many reasons for having a breast lift. Women find as they mature the forces of gravity take over; or after pregnancy, breasts begin to droop, sag and lose shape. The medical term for this sagging condition is “ptosis”. Or perhaps the upper portions of your breasts have simply lost their fullness and projection. The goal of a Connecticut breast lift is to make your breasts look perkier, fuller and more youthful. Board Certified Connecticut Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Singer performs Breast Lift surgery at his office in Westport, Connecticut.
It is important to understand that a Breast Lift by itself does not enlarge the breasts. If you desire or need enlargement, you can have a Connecticut Breast Enlargement (augmentation mammoplasty) performed at the same time as your breast lift. Breast Enlargement is specifically helpful in filling out the elevated portions of your breast. If you feel you will benefit from an enlargement and a lift, talk about both options fully with Board Certified Connecticut Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Singer at the Imperial Plastic Surgery at the Westport medical offices.
The Connecticut breast lift is done at the Connecticut surgery facility; we perform two types of breast lift procedures-the modified lift (Benelli) and the full lift. Your surgeon will help you make a decision upon the appropriate procedure for your specific needs.
Full Lift: The first incision is made around the dark area surrounding the nipple (areola) to allow a repositioning of the nipple to a higher, more efficient level on the breast. The nipple itself is not removed, however. Then, a secondary incision is made horizontally under the breast fold (inframammary crease). The third incision is made vertically from the areola’s edge to the crease, creating an inverted t-shaped surgical opening. Excess skin is trimmed to tighten, firm and reshape the breast for your desired projection. Then, the incisions are closed with small stitches (sutures) placed beneath the skin. Bandages and gauze are applied to the breast for support.
Modified (Benelli) Lift: The Benelli Lift is sometimes called a “Donut Lift”. This nick name comes from the circular incision is made around the dark area surrounding the nipple (areola) used to remove a donut shaped swatch of breast tissue. After the Excess skin is removed the surgeon will tighten and reshape the breast. If desired, large areolae can be reduced in size to more proportionate with your new breast size. The incision is closed with small stitches (sutures) and supportive bandages are applied to the breast. Benelli lifts leave a small scar around the nipple that very often fades into the nipples’ natural border.
At the Westport, Connecticut Imperial Plastic Surgery facility operating time for the breast lift in Connecticut is generally two to three hours. You will require general anesthesia, given by an expert anesthesiologist M.D. (medical doctor). This will allow you to “sleep” throughout the entire procedure. And the good thing with the Connecticut breast lift is that you can return home on the same day. Breast lift is done on an ambulatory basis. However, it is necessary that you have someone to pick you up after the procedure, take you home, and stay with you for at least 24 hours. Most women return to their usual activities in one week. However, you must not lift anything for the first two weeks and do no heavy lifting for the first month. The breast lift in Connecticut will surely turn your world again bringing on a new wave.
